NEW DELHI: west bengal chief minister Mamata banerjee Tuesday launched a blistering attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and said that said saffron camp may have bought some MLA, but will never be able to buy TMC.
“You can buy some MLA, but you can’t buy TMC”, Mamata he said while addressing a rally in Bolpur, adding that defections would not affect TMC as long as people supported the party.
Banerjee called Visva-Bharati’s Vice Chancellor Bidyut Chakrabarty a “BJP man”, and said he plans to destroy the sacred institution’s rich heritage “by importing divisive and communal politics within its campus.
“Conspiracies are being hatched to destroy the culture of Bengal. Stop the politics of violence and the politics of divisiveness. I feel bad when I see that efforts are being made to pursue community politics in Visva-Bharati“he said during his speech.
“Those who do not respect Mahatma Gandhi and other icons of the country are taking the initiative to build ‘Sonar Bangla’ (Golden Bengal). Rabindranath Tagore already created ‘Sonar Bangla’ several decades ago, all we have to do is protect the place of the BJP communal attack, “Banerjee added.
