Yorkshire has decided to terminate the contracts of R Ashwin, Nicholas Pooran and Keshav Maharaj, with mutual consent, due to the coronavirus pandemic. All professional cricket has been suspended in the UK until July 1, delaying the start of the English season.

Ashwin had signed up to play in eight games of the 2020 County Championship season, Pooran was to appear in the T20 Blast, while Maharaj was booked for the first two games of the County Championship.

“I really appreciate the understanding of the players in this matter,” said Martyn Moxon, director of cricket for Yorkshire. “We have been in regular contact with the players and their agents during this Covid pandemic. They have been extremely professional and appreciate the uncertainty that counties face today. We look forward to seeing them at Emerald Headingley in the future.”
