Along with the Mi 10 and Mi Box 4K, Xiaomi has unveiled its true wireless headphones in India. The Mi True 2 wireless headphones offer incredible audio quality at an affordable price.

The design is identical to AirPods, but you get a lot of standout features. This is what you need to know about true Xiaomi wireless headphones.

Xiaomi Mi True 2 Wireless Headphones Design and details.

The Mi True 2 wireless headphones have huge 14.2mm dynamic drivers, beating the new Pixel Buds (12mm) and the Jabra Elite 65 (6mm) by some margin. Xiaomi says it tuned in to audio for Indian customers, and has been doing so for its audio products for some time.

There are two microphones in each earpiece: one at the top and the other at the bottom of the stem. The microphone at the bottom picks up your audio for calls, and the other one listens to the ambient noise in your surroundings. Xiaomi says that the headphones disconnect up to 90% of ambient noise, but the downside is that it only works when you’re receiving calls.

With booming sound and high-resolution audio codecs, Xiaomi’s true wireless headphones stand out in this segment.

The design itself is almost identical to that of AirPods, and Xiaomi is leaning towards it, claiming that the design of the headphones hasn’t really changed and that there are only a few ways to offer true wireless design in this form factor. The headphones offer fast pairing, but are not based on Google’s Fast Pair technology. Quick pairing is limited to Xiaomi phones, so if you are using a device with MIUI, you will get quick pairing and the ability to see the battery life of each headset.

The headphones offer LHDC audio codec in addition to AAC and the regular Bluetooth SBC codec. They connect via Bluetooth 5.0 and feature gesture-based controls on the right earbud for everything from playing music to calling Google Assistant or Siri. They also automatically pause music playback every time a headset is removed from your ear, and resume once it’s on again. The best part is that this feature works regardless of the device you are using.

In terms of battery life, there is a 30 mAh battery in each earphone and a 250 mAh unit in the charging case. Xiaomi is promoting a 4-hour battery life on a full charge, with the case capable of delivering an additional 10-hour charge. At just 4.5g per headphone, they’re incredibly lightweight. There is no wireless charging, but they are charged via USB-C.

Xiaomi Mi True 2 Wireless Headphones Prices in India

The true Xiaomi wireless headphones will go on sale in India for $ 4,499 ($ 60), but will be available for $ 3,999 ($ 52) during the first sale window from May 12-17. For some context, that’s about a third of what AirPods cost in the country, so you’re getting decent value here.
