If the COVID-19 infection hadn’t stopped India, we could have been messing around with the Xiaomi Mi 10 and given it an in-depth analysis of its various parameters, including its 108-megapixel main camera. However, it is better late than never, the Mi 10 will arrive now on May 8, as the Indian government partially lifts restrictions on sales of non-essential items in selected areas. And before launch occurs, Xiaomi India gave India Today Tech an in-depth look at the Indian Mi 10.
We say “Indian Mi 10” because Xiaomi has modified bits in the Mi 10 here and there. The Mi 10 is said to be the most advanced smartphone that Xiaomi has brought to India (secondly, the Mi MIX Alpha, which was a conceptual device), and therefore Xiaomi is removing all obstacles. The Mi 10 will take the Xiaomi game to the space that is currently dominated by OnePlus, Samsung, Apple and Oppo. However, the exact price will be revealed on May 8.
The phone is mostly similar to the global variant and before taking a look at the Indian news, here are some basics about the Mi 10.
Xiaomi Mi 10: the overview
-The Mi 10 is one of the few phones on the market that uses the ultra-powerful Snapdragon 865 chip. This is currently the most powerful chip that an Android phone can use and paired with the Snapdragon X55 5G modem, it is ready for the future 5G (although 5G is still a distant dream for India).
-Xiaomi wants to position the Mi 10 as a phone for professionals who want accurate color profiles. With a JNCD rating of less than 0.5, the Mi 10’s 6.67-inch Full HD + AMOLED display is among the most color-accurate displays on a phone. The screen has curved edges and to make the experience superior it even offers a 90Hz refresh rate.
-The Mi 10 uses a 108 megapixel camera on the back as standard. This makes one of the few phones on the market come with a 108 megapixel camera. As expected, the camera promises great performance in both daytime and nighttime situations. If you value DxOMark scores, the Mi 10 Pro scored 124, placing it among the best camera phones this year. Xiaomi says that by using pixel grouping, this camera guarantees high-quality images in all conditions.
-The Mi 10 is the first phone to offer 30W wireless charging. However, the phone can also perform reverse wireless charging at speeds of 10W. If you want to continue charging by cable, you will continue to get 30W speeds that promise a full recharge in one hour.
Xiaomi Mi 10: What is different for India?
Xiaomi Mi 10
-Xiaomi will bring the Mi 10 to India in two color variants, Twilight Gray and Coral Green. There is no other color reaching India for now.
-The Mi 10 in India will offer Dual-SIM connectivity. The global variant only comes with unique SIM connectivity.
-Xiaomi is only bringing the regular Mi 10 to India. The Mi 10 Pro is not coming to India. Therefore, Indian consumers will miss out on the telephoto camera and will have to settle for a macro camera, along with a wide-angle camera and a depth camera. Xiaomi says the huge sensor should allow for more detail even when cropping the photos.
-Xiaomi says the Mi 10 is a teir-1 Android device and that means it will be less “MIUI-fied”. The software will make greater use of Google applications, such as Google Dialer and Google Contacts. However, it will remain MIUI 11 based on Android and will be updated to MIUI 12 later in the year.
-Most importantly, Xiaomi has clarified that there will be no ads on the Mi 10. The MIUI 11 interface on the Mi 10 will be free of ads, which justifies the premium for the phone.
-Speaking of premium, the Mi 10 will have a different pricing plan for India. It will be an expensive phone that will likely play alongside OnePlus 8 Pro, Samsung Galaxy S20, and iPhone 11. The reason for the high price is due to import taxes, higher GST rates, and depreciation value of the rupee-dollar. . Yes, the Mi 10 will be fully imported as Xiaomi India does not have an assembly line ready to manufacture the device locally.
