Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday said that it was wrong, and the fault of the expats and the people who came from other states to the jet in Covid-19 cases, although he admitted that the numbers increase to pose a new challenge for the state.
“Some people are giving a different interpretation to the harsh procedure adopted by the government. We are only trying to identify the source to prepare us for the combat of the disease. They have all the right to return to their state. Due to the peculiar situation of some restrictions there,” he said.
Vijayan’s comment came in the wake of a campaign on social media, claiming that the government was very harsh to non-residents after positive cases of Covid-19 went up.
“The state’s progress is due to the contributions of the expatriates. We really salute our brothers and sisters. Some people are trying to create an upset and we hope that the expatriates are aware of this,” he said, adding all the state, that must join together to fight against the virus, and was not the responsibility of the health workers alone. In view of the increase in cases, the government will have to strengthen their surveillance in the coming days, he said.
The state reported 24 new Covid-19 cases Wednesday, of which 12 had returned from the Persian Gulf countries, 11 came from other states and one contracted the disease from an infected person, he said.
The recovery of five people turned out to be a great relief for the state, which has witnessed a spurt in the cases with more than 150 cases of lining of the last eight days. Kerala tally is now at 666 161 are active, while the rest have been discharged from hospitals.

After much confusion, Vijayan said that the state government will carry out rest of the exams of Class X (living centers) and in Addition Two of May 26 to May 30, and all the arrangements were made for this.
