Seven people allegedly gang-raped a 30-year-old woman after killing her five-year-old son in Bihar’s Buxar district, police said Monday. One person has been held in connection with the incident, while the search continues to catch the others, they said.
On Saturday, the man took the woman into a forest when she had arrived in Chaigain village to deposit money in a bank with her son. Later, the defendant raped her and killed the girl, her father said in the FIR registered at the Murar Police Station.
The men then threw the woman and her son into a canal after tying them with a rope, according to the police report.
The two were taken to the Chaigain Primary Health Center, where doctors declared the boy had died and referred the mother to Sadar Hospital, police told the news agency. PTIHe added that the body of the minor has been sent for a post-mortem examination.
The woman’s medical examination report is expected and the statement will be in the magistrate’s court on Monday, a police officer said.
“The woman’s medical examination is underway. An FIR (First Information Report) has been filed, while a defendant has been arrested. The boy’s body has been sent for autopsy,” said police officer KK Singh, quoted by ANI news agency.
Singh added that they were investigating the facts related to the case.
The incident comes shortly after the alleged gang rape of a 19-year-old Dalit woman in Hathras of Uttar Pradesh. The woman’s family, who later succumbed to her injuries, left for Lucknow on Monday morning to record their statements in the Lucknow court of two judges from the Allahabad High Court.
On September 14, four men allegedly gang-raped a 19-year-old Dalit woman in the Bulgadhi village of UP’s Hathras district and then tried to strangle her. Later the victim was admitted to Aligarh Medical College, but was later transferred to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi after her condition worsened. The victim succumbed to his injuries on September 29 while in treatment. District administration officials then cremated the victim’s body in the middle of the night at 3 a.m. despite the majority of family members opposed to the midnight cremation.
