With 658 new boxes of Covid-19, Uttarakhand surpasses the 18,000 mark


With 658 new cases of Covid-19, Uttarakhand crossed the 18,000 mark on Saturday, bringing the total case count to 18,571.

The state also reported 11 Covid-19 positive patient deaths. With this, the death toll increased to 250 in the state. Of the 250 deaths, 73 cases were deaths from coronavirus, while the rest died from comorbidities.

Of the 11 deaths reported Saturday, five died from coronavirus while others died from comorbidities.

According to the health bulletin released by the state on Saturday night, a maximum of 179 new cases were reported in Dehradun district, followed by Haridwar (161), US Nagar (90), Tehri (64), Almora (54 ), Nainital (45), Uttarkashi (19), Bageshwar (16), Pithoragarh (11), Pauri (6), Champawat (6), Chamoli (5) and Rudraprayag (2).

Haridwar District has reported the highest of 4,454 Covid-19 positive cases so far, followed by Dehradun (3,816), US Nagar (3,520), and Nainital (2,558). Whereas, 400 Covid-19 patients were discharged from different hospitals in the state on Saturday with a maximum of 187 from the Nagar district of the USA.

The case duplication rate based on the last seven days is now 23.41 days, while the infection rate is 5.32%. So far, the state has analyzed more than 3.76 lakh of samples of which results of more than 19,000 are expected.

Of 18,571, a total of 12,524 people have recovered successfully, bringing the recovery rate in the state to 67.44%.

Uttarakhand currently has 386 containment zones in seven districts, including a maximum of 316 in the Haridwar district.

To effectively fight the pandemic, the state government has operationalized 17 dedicated Covid hospitals and 381 Covid Care Centers (CCC) throughout the state. Recently, the state government has initiated the home isolation of asymptomatic patients with positive Covid-19.

Meanwhile, the government of Uttarakhand issued an order on Saturday night stating that “the upper limits set for certain categories of people arriving in Uttarakhand are removed …”

The order was issued as a modification of a previous order published on August 4. The most recent order further stated, “… wherever the RT-PCR test is mentioned (in the order above) it can be read as RT-PCR test by the Medical Research Council of India licensed laboratory or TrueNAT test.

Following instructions from the central government, the state government said on Saturday that all incoming people will be required to register on the Dehradun Smart City Limited website.

“Although registration is mandatory, no electronic permission / approval / pass will be required for such a move. The registration document must necessarily be verified at the border control post, while the person entering the state enters the state. The registration is made mandatory to facilitate the tracing of the contact of the incoming person, in case a positive Covid-19 is found in the latter, ”the order said.
