After the former Punjab DGP Sumedh Singh Saini was not allowed to enter Himachal Pradesh a few days ago, the Bilaspur police posted on their official page a message offering to welcome the decorated senior police officer to the state after the coronavirus crisis will end.
On his official page, Bilaspur SP Dewakar Sharma has posted: “We have great respect for Sumedh Singh Saini Sir. His courage, tireless bravery, leadership, and professionalism during those peak days of turbulent times inspire many, including myself. For this reason, it will continue to be a role model for many. Nation still remembers his contribution to settling in Punjab and we hold him in high regard. ”
On May 7, at 4 a.m., the Bilaspur police had returned for Sumedh Singh Saini from the state border, who along with two others were going to his Karsog property. The former Punjab DGP was unable to enter Himachal Pradesh by the Bilaspur police, as they did not have permission to travel during curfew hours by the competent authorities.

Later, it became clear that the Punjab police had registered a case on May 6 at night against the former DGP and that he may have been trying to go to Himachal to escape arrest.
Punjab police had registered a case against Sumedh Saini in connection with the disappearance of Balwant Singh Multani in 1991. The case was registered under Sections 364, 201, 344, 330 and 120 B of the IPC.
