Will welcome Kangana if he joins BJP or RPI, says Ramdas Athawale

Union Minister Ramdas Athawale met Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut on Thursday at his Mumbai residence and said BJP or RPI will receive her if she decides to join either party. But Kangana said he has no interest in joining politics, Athawale clarified after their meeting.

“As long as Kangana is working on films, she has no intention of joining politics, but if she joins BJP or RPI, we will welcome her,” the minister said.

The meeting comes a day after BMC demolished Kangana’s office in Mumbai.

Athawale, chairman of the Republican Party of India (A), has been a strong supporter of the actress in the episode Kangana versus Shiv Sena. After Shiv Sena MP sanjay Raut allegedly asked Kangana Ranaut not to return to Mumbai as he compared the city to Pakistani-occupied Kashmir, Athawale said his workers will provide protection to Kangana.

On Monday, the Center provided Y-plus security for the actress. On Wednesday, Kangana arrived in Bombay, the day that the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation carried out a demolition campaign at her office, alleging that substantial changes had been made to the sanctioned plan of the premises owned by the actress. The Bombay High Court on Thursday suspended the demolition campaign.

The actor is in Mumbai for a short visit and has therefore been exempted from the quarantine rules. He is scheduled to leave Bombay on September 14.
