Will the 2021 CBSE board exam be postponed? See official statements | India News

2020 CBSE Board Exams: All eyes are on the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the Council for School Certification Examinations of India (CISCE). The two core boards have yet to announce their final decision on rescheduling the board exams for classes 10 and 12.

It should be noted that the state boards of Maharashtra and Gujarat have announced that they will postpone the 2021 class 10 and 12 board exams in their states until May instead of February-March, in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, CBSE and CISCE are still assessing the situation.

A few days ago, various media reports had claimed that CBSE’s board examinations could be postponed for 45 to 60 days. However, a final announcement on it is expected from the board. Experts believe that the CBSE could postpone the board’s examinations as the academic cycle has been interrupted. They claimed that the actual decision about taking the board exams can only be made once normal classes resume.

It should be noted that CBSE normally conducts Class 10, 12 board examinations in February and March, but CBSE is likely to postpone the exam due to the coronavirus pandemic. The date sheet for CBSE Class 10, 12 Board Examinations is generally released in December and it remains to be seen if CBSE would do the same this year as well. In 2019, CBSE had released the date sheet in early November, as it had announced its decision to advance the board examinations. This year, the CBSE has yet to make any announcements regarding the release of the date sheet for the 2021 board exams.

Sources claimed that many students and parents want the CBSE to postpone exams until May due to the coronavirus outbreak. The decision made by the Maharashtra and Gujarat boards is likely to force the CBSE to make a similar decision and make an announcement soon.

The CBSE had recently released the latest sample papers with a grading scheme, prompting speculation that the board plans to take the exam on time.

In July, CBSE had cut the CBSE 2020-21 academic session curriculum by 30% due to loss of classes as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. CBSE is expected to further reduce the curriculum for the upcoming CBSE 10th and 12th Board exams in 2021.

Various media reports have stated that the CBSE is likely to release either the 2021 class 12 date sheet or the 2021 CBSE time table within a few days. The date sheet will contain all important test dates for 2021. Once posted, students can check test dates at cbse.nic.in.

Meanwhile, on November 17, the Supreme Court had dismissed a petition requesting the waiver of exam fees for students in grades 10 and 12 in the current academic year in light of COVID-19 and the financial problems faced by some parents.
