Will reject core agricultural acts after SAD forms government in Punjab: Sukhbir Badal: The Tribune India

Chandigarh, October 22

SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal said Thursday that his party will not allow the implementation of the Center’s agricultural laws as it pertains to power in Punjab.

Badal, who chaired a central committee meeting here, also said it was the government’s duty to ensure that agricultural products were purchased at the minimum price to support the 22 crops.

“We have been demanding that MSP-insured trading should not only continue, but also expand to cover the 22 crops listed. When SAD forms a government in the state, we will ensure that this demand becomes an achievement, ”he said.

“When SAD forms government in the state, we will reject and totally block the implementation of the laws against farmers of (PM Narendra) Modi in Punjab, declare the entire state as a main market area and repeal the APMC Act of 2017 enacted by (Chief Minister) Amarinder Singh, ”Badal said here.

He said opposition members were shocked to see how the prime minister had allegedly defrauded Punjab by “betraying” the unanimous resolution passed by the assembly.

“This resolution mentioned that it flatly rejected the laws of the Center and committed the state government to declare Punjab as a main market area. But the bills that were subsequently introduced by the Amarinder government did not include any of these provisions. He is guilty of deceiving and betraying the confidence of the Chamber, ”Badal alleged in a statement.

Furthermore, he claimed that farmers’ bodies have rejected the bills presented by the Punjab government in the assembly to deny the central agricultural laws.

The Punjab Assembly on Tuesday adopted a resolution rejecting the Center’s new agricultural laws and passed four bills, it said, that will counter contentious legislation enacted by Parliament. PTI
