Rashid Khan, Afghanistan’s leg ace playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad at IPL 2020, could avoid a Google search for the next few days. The reason: a strange error in the algorithm has focused attention on Rashid Khan’s personal life. When one searches for Rashid Khan’s wife in Google search, it shows Anushka Sharma as his wife. Anushka Sharma, the famous Bollywood star, is the wife of the Indian cricket team and patron of the Royal Challengers Bangalore, Virat Kohli.
When one does a Google search for Rashid Khan and his wife, the search bar displays his name, followed by a short biography of Rashid Khan’s accomplishments and the teams he has played for. In the wife / spouse section, show Anushka Sharma.
Why does the Google search return such a strange result? Well, the reason seems to be from an interaction in 2018 when he chatted with his fans on Instagram. In that session, one of the questions fans asked was who were their favorite Bollywood actresses? To this, Anushka Sharma and Priety Zinta responded.
That sent all of Google’s trends into a frenzy, and since that day, Google has apparently thrown Rashid Khan’s wife as Anushka Sharma into the search bar.
Rashid Khan not getting married?
The 22-year-old Afghan spinner is considered one of the best players to come out of Afghanistan. However, in an interaction a couple of months ago, Rashid Khan decided that he will not get married for one main reason. His mission is to help Afghanistan win the World Cup for the first time and only after that could he think about marriage.
In a talk with Azadi Radio, Rashid Khan said: “I will be engaged and married once Afghanistan wins the cricket world.” That resulted in lots of hilarious responses on Twitter, with many praising Rashid Khan’s decision.
Afghanistan has not been able to cross the barrier of the league stage in the 2015 and 2019 World Cups. Of its 15 World Cup matches of 50 years, Afghanistan has only been able to win one and that too against Scotland for a ground in the 2015 World Cup clash in Dunedin. Rashid Khan took six wickets in nine games at the 2019 World Cup as they failed to win a single game, although they were in a winning position in games against India and Pakistan.
They have a better record in T20 World Cups, having recorded 5 wins out of their 14 matches to date. Rashid Khan was the second tallest carrier in the 2016 T20 World Cup taking 11 wickets with an economy of 6.53.
