Why did Abu Azmi ask Uddhav Thackeray to change the name of Maharashtra?

There seems to be no end to the dispute over the name change of Aurangabad to Sambhaji Nagar in the middle of a war of words.

Shiv SenaThe demand to change the name of Aurangabad as Sambhajinagar has caused malaise in the government of Maha Vikas Aghadi with Balasaheb Thorat saying that the party would strongly oppose any proposal that seeks to change the name of Aurangabad as Sambhajinagar.

Now the Samajwadi Party Maharashtra chief and MLA (Mankhurd Shivajinagar) Abu azmi has asked to change the name of Maharashtra instead of changing the name of Aurangabad.

Abu Azmi, in a video, addressed to the Government of Maharashtra and the Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray He said that by changing the names of the city there will be no development, nor will hunger end.

“What’s going to happen when you change the names of the old cities? It’s okay if it’s a new city. Make two or four new districts,” Azmi said.

Declaring that the cities of Aurangabad, Ahmednagar have history and if the government wants to change the name, first, they should change the name from Maharashtra to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

“If you want to change the name, please change the name from Raigad to Sambhaji Maharaj. People will love it too. However, it is not appropriate to change the name and it does not suit you,” he said.

Azmi also urged to develop Maharashtra, where people from all over the world come to visit.

“You take Maharashtra forward. Develop, create new districts. People will appreciate you. Don’t work to create a gap between Hindus and Muslims like the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. It doesn’t suit you,” he added.

Last week, Thorat claimed that changing the place names was not part of the Common Minimum Program (CMP) of the three ruling parties.

Meanwhile, Shiv Sena’s leader Sanjay Raut said that all political parties in the country are aware of Shiv Sena’s position on renaming Aurangabad as Sambhaji Nagar. “The Hindu Hriday Samrat Balasaheb Thackery changed the name 20 years ago. Only the administration process remains. Ideally, it should have happened during the BJP term. However, they should not do politics and worry about it.”

Raut also expressed confidence that the problem will be resolved through talks.

In 1995, Shiv Sena had demanded for the first time that the name be changed from Aurangabad to Sambhajinagar.
