Who is Gupteshwar Pandey, the latest JD (U) recruit before the Bihar polls? | Bihar Assembly Elections 2020 Election News

NEW DELHI: Just weeks before the assembly elections in Bihar, former Bihar DGP Gupteshwar Pandey joined JD (U) on Sunday in the presence of Prime Minister and Party Leader Nitish Kumar.
Pandey had met with Nitish Kumar in Patna on Saturday, giving credence to speculation that the IPS officer’s sudden move to take VRS was prompted by an intention to join politics.
After joining the party, Pandey said that CM himself called him and asked him to join the party. “Whatever the party asks me to do, I will do it. I do not understand politics. I am a simple person who has spent his time working for the oppressed sector of society,” Pandey was quoted as saying by the ANI news agency.
