Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski was crowned the Best Male Player of 2020 at the FIFA awards on Thursday, finishing ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi after a stellar season.
It’s no wonder Lewandowski takes the award after a phenomenal season in which he won the treble and scored an incredible 55 goals in 47 games for the Bavarian giants.
Messi voted for Lewandowski, but only left the striker in third place. The Barcelona captain chose his former teammate Neymar as his first choice with Kylian Mbappé as his second favorite ahead of Lewandowski.
Lewandowski voted for Manchester City’s Thiago, Neymar and Kevin De Bruyne, while Ronaldo chose Lewandowski, Messi and Mbappé.
Messi was named to the FIFPro World XI, for the fourteenth year in a row, taking his place in a team that included Lewandowski, Ronaldo, Thiago and Sergio Ramos among others.
