Sunil Gavaskar, clarifying his comments on Virat Kohli’s performance in the Indian Premier League clash against Kings XI Punjab, said that he had never blamed Anushka Sharma and had only commented on his social media video.
In a report in India today, Gavaskar was quoted as saying: “First, I would like to say it again. Where do I blame her? I don’t blame her. I’m just saying the video said he was bowling with Virat. Virat has only played that bowling alley during the lockout period. It is a tennis ball, a fun game in which people have to pass the time during the confinement. That’s it. Where do I blame her for Virat’s failures?
In addition, he claimed that he has always supported wives going on tour with their husbands. “You know me, I’m the one who has always fought for wives who go with husbands on tour. I am the one that a normal boy goes to the office for a job from 9 to 5, when he comes home, he returns to his wife. Similarly, cricketers, when they go out on tour or even when they play at home, why can’t they have their wives with them?

“Because after their work hours are over, they have to go back to their wives like any other common man. So I don’t blame her. “
During RCB’s clash against KXIP, Gavaskar was heard saying that Kohli spent time with Anuskha during the lockdown and that the batsman had practiced against his bowling alley. He felt the lack of practice was quite evident in Kohli’s performance as they chased a challenging 207-race goal.
In the comment box, Gavaskar had said: “Ab joh lockdown tha to sirf Anushka ki bowling ki practice ki unhone, wo video dekhi hai (reference to a viral video), usse to kuch nahi hona hai (During the recent closing he only practiced bowling for Anushka, I saw a video. But that won’t be enough).

However, his comments didn’t go well with cricket fans when they criticized Gavaskar on Twitter, calling his comments “sexist.” Anuskha also reacted to the comment, calling it “unpleasant”.
Kohli, in a rare incident, had a bad day in the contest against KXIP. The India captain first dropped KL Rahul twice, who went on to score a century, in KXIP innings and only scored once with the bat before Sheldon Cottrell knocked him out. RCB lost their second 2020 IPL match by 97 runs.
