WhatsApp ‘delays’ update, will not delete your account for three months – Latest news

The past 10 days have seen WhatsApp engulfed in a wave of controversy over user privacy and data. It began when the Facebook-owned messaging app told users to agree to certain terms and conditions or to face deletion of their account. Now WhatsApp has delayed this condition for the next three months, at least.

In an official blog post, the instant messaging app informed users that no one’s account will be deleted on February 8. “We are now rolling back the date that people will be asked to review and agree to the terms. No one will have their account suspended or deleted on February 8. ”

In the blog post, WhatsApp also said that it will do much more to inform users about privacy and security on WhatsApp. “We are also going to do a lot more to clear up misinformation about how privacy and security works on WhatsApp. Then we will gradually go to people to review the policy at their own pace before the new trading options are available on May 15. ”

WhatsAp said that there has been a lot of confusion about its update recently, so it is delaying the update process. “We have heard from many people how much confusion there is surrounding our recent update. There has been a lot of misinformation that has caused concern and we want to help everyone understand our principles and facts. ”

In the last 10 days, WhatsApp rivals like Signal and Telegram have seen a massive increase in downloads and installs. Both platforms claim to be more secure than WhatsApp. WhatsApp has maintained that chats will remain safe and no one will see them. But the problem has been sharing certain user data with Facebook and perhaps third-party applications, which has made the user a bit apprehensive and look for other options like Signal and Telegram.
