What’s new, what’s still the same


The government released new Unlock 4.0 guidelines on Saturday. The MHA order allows some gradual reopening of activities in the fourth round of unlocking, it has continued to extend the lockdown in the containment zones until September 30. A statement from the MHA said the new guidelines are based on comments received from states and UT and consultations with related central ministries and departments.

This is what is allowed in Unlock 4:

1) The metro train will be allowed to operate from September 7 in a staggered manner.

2) There are no restrictions on the interstate and intrastate movement of people and goods.

3) No separate electronic permits or permits will be required.

4) Social / academic / sports / entertainment / cultural / religious / political functions and other congregations will be allowed with a maximum limit of 100 people, starting on September 21.

5) Open air theaters will be allowed from September 21.

6) Beginning September 21, outside of the containment zones, States / UTs can allow up to 50 percent of teaching and non-teaching staff to be called to schools at the same time for online teaching / tele-counseling and Related jobs.

7) Only essential services will be allowed in the containment zones.

8) The lockdown will continue in the containment zones until September 30.

This is what stays locked in Unlock 4

1) Schools, universities, educational and training institutions will continue to be closed to students.

2) Movie theaters, swimming pools, entertainment parks, theaters will remain closed.

3) International air travel, except as permitted by MHA, remains suspended.

4) People over 65, people with comorbidities, pregnant women and children under 10 are advised to stay home, except to meet essential requirements and for health reasons.
