New Delhi:
The government today published new “unblocking” guidelines that will ease further restrictions, including metro trains, which may be gradually restarted from September 7. Schools and other educational institutions will remain closed as the coronavirus pandemic shows no signs of slowing down in the country.
Here’s what will reopen and stay closed in Unlock4:
- Subway trains will be allowed to resume their services in a staggered manner from September 7.
- The open-air theaters may open from September 21.
- Social, academic, sports, entertainment, political, cultural and religious functions and gatherings will be allowed with a maximum of 100 people starting September 21. However, face masks and social distancing are a must at all these gatherings.
- There are no restrictions on the interstate and intrastate movement of people and goods. No separate electronic permits or permits will be required.
- Schools and educational institutions will be closed until September 30 and online classes will continue. However, students in classes 9 to 12 may be allowed to visit their schools, only outside the containment zones, to follow the guidance of teachers. This will require the written consent of your parents.
- 50 percent of teaching and non-teaching staff can be called to schools at the same time for online teaching.
- Skills or entrepreneurship training will be allowed at government-registered institutes.
- The government will allow academic researchers and graduate students from technical and professional programs in need of laboratory practice.
- Cinemas, swimming pools and entertainment parks will be closed.
- International passenger air travel will remain prohibited, except for those permitted by the center.
- Only essential services will be allowed in containment zones. The lockdown will continue in the containment zones until September 30.
The government released the “Unlock4” guidelines today and said in a statement that the new rules are based on feedback from the union’s states and territories and after consultation with central ministries.
