Mumbai:
Actress and politician Urmila Matondkar lashed out at film star Kangana Ranaut on Wednesday for disparaging comments about Mumbai and film industry veteran Jaya Bachchan with her claims of pervasive nepotism and widespread use of illegal drugs in Bollywood.
Although he said he did not support the demolition of the “QueenIn the star’s office by the Mumbai civic body shortly after her comments last week, Ms Matondkar asked why taxpayer money was being used for the safety of Kangana Ranaut.
Matondkar, 46, a former congressional leader who contested the Lok Sabha polls last year, also noted that if Ms. Ranaut really had information about illegal drugs in Bollywood she should look to her state, Himachal Pradesh, and would be better served if out to the authorities instead of tweeting about it.
“What girl from a civilized cultured household would use this kind of language?kya ukhaad loge‘,’kiska baap ka kya hai‘, talking about Jaya ji the way she did, “Matondkar told NDTV in an interview.
“Yes, what happened to his office and a certain word that was used against him was completely reprehensible. I will never defend such actions (but) Y + security comes from our money. Can we say that due to an act of God it is Can we pay taxes? We can’t, “he said.
Matondkar also confronted Ranaut for his comments criticizing Mumbai and likening it to Pakistani-occupied Kashmir (PoK), stating that he would “never tolerate any defamatory comments” about the city.
“You can’t cross a certain line, speak ill of an industry that has done everything to you. If some people are using drugs or are drug addicts, you don’t have to compare it to the mafia. When Kangana wasn’t even born, Jaya ji was in the industry. cinema. We are talking about a lady here (Jaya Bachchan) who has been an icon herself. What part of Indian culture tells you that you should lash out at people like this? “she said.
Kangana Ranaut lashed out at Ms Bachchan, referring to her comments about the film industry in parliament that appeared to accuse Ms Ranaut of being ungrateful, using a Hindi proverb “jis thali mein khate hain usmein chhed karte hain“.
“Than thali (plate) What is Jaya ji referring to? The one who volunteered was to appear in a two-minute role, a romantic scene, item numbers, and that too after sleeping with the hero? I taught the industry feminism, I decorated the thali with patriotic films, this is my own plate, Jaya ji, not yours, “Kangana Ranaut tweeted in Hindi.
The issue of illegal drugs and banned substances in Bollywood made headlines after the Narcotics Bureau opened an investigation into the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput in June. So far, the agency has only arrested his girlfriend, actress Rhea Chakraborty, for this matter.
Ms. Ranaut, against whom the Maharashtra government has also launched a drug investigation, alleged that prominent actors were involved.
Yesterday, however, the government told parliament that it “has no actionable input” on this matter.
Ms. Ranaut, 33, also made headlines after criticizing the Mumbai police for their handling of the Sushant Rajput case and claiming that she no longer felt safe in Mumbai.
His comments sparked an angry reaction from Maharashtra’s ruler Shiv Sena, which included an insult from senior leader Sanjay Raut, threats of violence and invitations to leave the city. She was also quickly drawn into a row that included what she claimed was the demolition of her Mumbai office in revenge.
Ms Ranaut, who left Mumbai on Monday to return to Himachal Pradesh, took a farewell shot as she did so, saying that she left with a “heavy heart” after being “terrified” by attempts to demolish her office. .
“I have to say my PoK analogy was great,” said the actor, in a sign that the feud will likely continue.
