West Bengal Makes Negative Covid-19 Report Mandatory For Travelers From These 4 States


With an increase in Covid-19 cases in four states, West Bengal will make it essential for those arriving from those states to carry a negative coronavirus test report as of February 27.

People traveling to Bengal from Maharashtra, Kerala, Karnataka and Telangana on flights will be required to submit a negative RT-PCR test starting on Saturday.

Those who enter Bengal by trains or buses are exempt.

Meanwhile, West Bengal has recorded two coronavirus-related deaths in a 24-hour span, bringing the death toll to 10,253, the health department said.

One death was reported each in Purulia and Kalimpong districts, he said, adding that one of the two deaths was due to comorbidities in which Covid-19 was incidental.

The count increased to 5,74,099 after 189 new cases of Covid-19 were recorded in the state. The discharge rate improved to 97.62% after 228 recoveries were recorded in the state. So far 5,60,447 people have been cured of the infection in West Bengal.

The number of active cases is currently 3,399, according to the bulletin.

So far, around 8 lakh people have been vaccinated in West Bengal in the past 32 days, the official added.

The government delegates high-level teams in 10 states to manage Covid

The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) has delegated high-level multidisciplinary teams in Maharashtra, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Punjab, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Jammu and Kashmir to support them in public. sanitary measures for the specific response and treatment of coronavirus.

According to the official statement, the three-member multidisciplinary teams will work closely with the states and the UT administration and determine the reasons for the recent increase in the number of coronavirus infections. They will also coordinate with the health authorities of the states and UT for the necessary control measures of Covid-19 to break the chain of transmission.

The Health Ministry has recommended that states and UT conduct a periodic critical review of the emerging situation with concerned district officials to ensure that the progress made so far in managing Covid-19 is not lost.
