West Bengal: Cong and the left ask the government to demonstrate the majority, they want the Assembly to be convened

When asking the TMC government to demonstrate its majority in the plenary session of the Chamber, the opposition CPI (M) and Congress demanded on Thursday the convening of the Assembly session as soon as possible.

The lawsuit was raised by the two opposition parties amid defections by high-profile Trinamool board members in recent weeks. The most recent is TMC Minister Suvendu Adhikari.

“Many Trinamool MLAs have joined the BJP or resigned from the party. Now Trinamool Congress leaders fear a vote will take place in the Assembly. They should immediately call the session of the Assembly and demonstrate their majority in the plenary session of the House ”, said the leader of the Opposition and the Congress MLA Abdul Mannan and the leader of the Legislative Party CPI (M), Sujan Chakraborty, in a meeting of press here.

Assembly elections in the state are likely to be held between April and May, and the CPI (M) and Congress have formed an alliance to contest the elections together.

The two leaders also said that there are also many issues that need discussion in the House.

“Many problems are occurring in the country and also in the state. But the ruling party is not eager to debate those issues in the Assembly, ”Mannan said.

“The TMC government has made many decisions that have political and financial implications. Then, the government must explain them in the Assembly ”, added Chakraborty.

“Due to the Covid pandemic, the Assembly has not been held for almost a year. Now that the situation is improving, the government should convene the session, “Mannan said.
