After the letter, West Bengal allows 10 trains.

  • Stung by Amit Shah’s letter, West Bengal has given consent for 10 trains carrying migrants to reach the state from Kerala, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Punjab and Karnataka

Sources say the Interior Minister noted that West Bengal had not been extending support for the Center’s measure to guarantee the return of stranded migrant workers to the state.

In elaborating, Shah noted that so far the Center had facilitated the return of more than two lakhs of migrants, but the WB Government was not allowing trains to enter the state.

The problem is the last critical point between the Center and the WB Government amid a dispute over the state’s efforts to address the Covid-19 cases.

This occurs a day after the congressional leader in the Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said he had asked the Home Secretary to take steps so that West Bengal patients, students and migrant workers stranded in various states could return to their homes. .
