New Delhi: Thursday afternoon (April 30) saw nonsense on the Wikipedia profile of the West Bengal BJP state president and deputy Dilip Ghosh. He mistakenly identified Dilip Ghosh as the Chief Minister of West Bengal. This information then went viral on social media.
When contacted, the Midnapore MP said someone could have maliciously edited the Wikipedia page, adding: “I don’t know who wrote it and why. Our team has reported to Google and Wikipedia but did not modify it.”
“Currently, we are only concentrating to save people’s lives from the deadly coronavirus,” added Ghosh.
He also added that there are many such errors made on his Wikipedia page, alleging that his requests to correct the errors are not being logged. In particular, errors in Wikipedia are not considered Google’s responsibility.
On the Wikipedia page, Ghosh is described to have been in charge of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, before joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2014.
In 2016, he was elected as a member of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly of Kharagpur Sadar, defeating former President of Congress Gyan Singh Sohanpal. Ghosh comes from the economically backward areas of Jungle Mahals and belongs to the Bengali Sadgop caste.
In particular, Midnapore MP has previously been in the news for comments, stating that intellectuals who “eat beef must also eat dog meat.”
Another comment “gold mixes in milk” from Indian cows, and “That is why the color of milk is slightly yellow,” caught people’s attention.
