Calcutta:
The West Bengal BJP delivered an apparent cause notice to its Mahila Morcha president, Agnimitra Paul, on Wednesday for making “anti-party” statements in the media.
BJP State Vice President Pratap Banerjee said Paul was sent the notice of cause for the show for certain comments he made last week.
“He has been asked to give an answer within seven days,” he said.
“It has been observed that on December 18 he has ventured to give bytes to the electronic media, which constitute derogatory and anti-party statements that reflect severe anti-organization sentiments, which go directly against the decisions made by the party,” the notice said. . .
When contacted, all Ms. Paul said was: “It is an internal party matter.”
On Tuesday, the BJP state secretary general, Sayantan Basu, received a similar notification.
According to sources from the West Bengal BJP, both Mr. Basu and Ms. Paul had spoken out against the possible induction of Pandeveswar TMC MLA Jitendra Tiwari into the match.
Last week, Tiwari resigned from all seats in Trinamool’s Congress and speculation abounded about his likely move to the BJP. But the top brass of the Saffron party’s state unit, including Basu and Union Minister Babul Supriyo, opposed his incorporation.
Afterward, Tiwari softened his stance, apologized, and returned to TMC.
Basu has already sent a reply to the BJP leadership, regretting his comments.
