Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who yesterday received birthday wishes from political leaders and celebrities from across India and the world, tweeted a birthday wish last night. “Let’s make our planet healthy,” the Prime Minister urged people across the country, reminding them to wear masks and follow all government-required coronavirus protocols.
“As many have asked me what I want for my birthday, this is what I am looking for right now: to keep wearing a mask and to use it properly. Follow social distancing. Remember ‘Do Gaj Ki Doori’. (a distance of two yards). Avoid crowded spaces. Improve your immunity. Let’s make our planet healthy, “PM Modi tweeted.
His latest appeal comes amid a massive surge in coronavirus cases in India. The count increased to 51 lakhs of cases on Thursday as the country posted a record rise of 97,894 new cases. Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnatakaka and Uttar Pradesh remain the most affected states.

Prime Minister Modi, who turned 70 on Thursday, also received a late night birthday greeting from US President Donald Trump. “I would like to extend my best wishes and a very happy 70th birthday to the Prime Minister of India, @narendramodi. Many happy returns for a GREAT LEADER and a loyal friend!” Trump wrote and shared a photo of him standing at the stage with Prime Minister Modi and his wife Melania addressed the crowd attending the “Namaste Trump” event in February in Ahmedabad in Gujarat, Prime Minister Modi’s home state.
The Prime Minister responded by saying, “Thank you @POTUS @realDonaldTrump for your warm wishes. The friendship between our nations is strong and is a force for the good of all humanity.”
On Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin, in his birthday wishes, said that he “values the friendly relations” developed with Prime Minister Modi; He also praised Prime Minister Modi for leading India on the path of socio-economic, scientific and technical development. Putin was one of many world leaders who expressed their wishes for the Prime Minister.
The ruling BJP had organized various events such as distribution of rations to those in need, blood donation camps and vision screening camps to mark the 70th anniversary of Prime Minister Modi.
