The fight that started with D Roopa questioning the need to set off firecrackers on Deepavali ended with the suspension of the True Indology account.
A war of words broke out on social media between IPS officer D Roopa and a Twitter user who calls himself ‘True Indology’ as to whether the firecrackers are Indian or not. The fight that started with D Roopa questioning the need to set off firecrackers on Deepavali ended with the suspension of the True Indology account, which has irritated the right wing on Twitter. However, it is unclear why the account, a staunch defender of Hindutva, has been suspended and is based on whose complaint.
D Roopa, who is the Secretary of the Interior of the Karnataka Government, had written on November 14 a Facebook statement asking why people have problems with the ban on firecrackers and that she is “horrified” to see “some intellectuals, highly educated and respectable citizens who mock the crowd “for violating the rules on banning firecrackers. When she shared the Facebook post on Twitter, several users questioned her and asked if she would also question the customs of other religions.

A little later, True Indology, whose account has now been suspended, argued with Roopa that the cookies have been mentioned in ancient Indian scriptures, a claim that the IPS official disputed. She asked the user to submit proof from the scriptures where the firecrackers were mentioned. Later, he also lashed out at the user for calling his responses to his “right to babus and arrogance” and asked why the user had no “face and no name”.
After a protracted fight, Twitter suspended True Indology’s profile on Wednesday, drawing ire from many on social media. Actress Kangana Ranaut led the outrage and questioned Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey for suspending the account.
“When they don’t have answers to your questions, they break your house, jail you, muzzle your voice or kill your digital identity. Eliminating one’s digital identity is nothing less than murder in the virtual world, there must be strict laws against it, ”Kangana tweeted.
In another tweet, he lashed out at D Roopa. The government appoints people like @D_Roopa_IPS to protect the fundamental rights of commoners, but look at your disgusting ignorance as a loser, it became so vindictive that if you couldn’t win the discussions with facts, you simply removed @TIinExile. Shame on @D_Roopa_IPS (sic), ”Kangana said in another tweet.
@Jack @Twitter @TwitterIndia your prejudice and Islamist propaganda is shameful, why did you suspend @TIinExile ? Because it broke false narratives of our history? What a shame, waiting for the day when it is banned in India, I hope @PMOIndia take action against twitter.

Soon enough, shortly after her tweets, #BringBackTrueIndology started trending on Twitter on Wednesday morning. TNM has contacted D Roopa for an answer on the same. The article will be updated when she responds.
Hears @TwitterIndia, this is the second time you’ve unreasonably suspended one of the most informative and decent Twitter identifiers on your platform.

Unless the purpose of your Twitter presence is to address public issues, government officials should refrain from using your official designation in SM. Esp when they are prone to discussions on Twitter.@TIinExile commits to the facts – responds to it but cannot get it suspended
