Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said on Sunday that the country wants to restore peace along the Current Line (LAC), while at the same time asserting that India’s armed forces will not yield an inch. from its territory to China.

“India wants an end to the tension and the restoration of peace. I am fully confident that our military will not allow an inch of the land of India to fall into the hands of others, ”he said.

Singh spoke to reporters after performing “Shastra puja”(Arms cult) at a key military base in Siliguri that is responsible for policing the border in the Sikkim sector.

The Army Chief of Staff, General MM Naravane, and several senior Army officers were also present at the Sukna headquarters of the 33rd Indian Army Corps.

Officials told the PTI news agency that the defense minister was scheduled to hold the bid in Sherathang, a high-altitude border area near LAC in Sikkim, but was unable to go there due to inclement weather.

India and China are locked in a bitter border clash of more than five months in eastern Ladakh that has significantly strained their ties.

The two sides held a series of diplomatic and military talks to resolve the dispute. However, no progress has been made to end the confrontation.

The defense minister arrived at the Sukna headquarters of the 33rd Corps on Saturday. The defense minister also reviewed the Army’s combat readiness during a high-level meeting at the military base. The Army has significantly strengthened the deployment of troops and weapons throughout the nearly 3,500 km of LAC, including the Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh sectors.
