David Warner’s Sunrisers Hyderabad faced their second loss of the 2020 Indian Premier League season, 0-2 so far, against Dinesh Karthik’s Kolkata Knight Riders at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Saturday, September 26. Warner opted to win the bat first draw and the team struggled to perform with just Manish Pandey scoring a fifty after Warner was fired 36 of 30 balls.
Sehwag, in his new series ‘Viru Ki Baithak’, also praised Manish Pandey, who set the highest score for SRH with 51 out of 38. He said that Pandey and Warner had just started to consolidate entries when ‘architect’ Varun Chakravarthy got rid of Warner. Sehwag praised Dinesh Karthik’s captaincy as the KKR captain relied on his great players for ‘lead roles’ like entrusting the ball to Pat Cummins despite his failure in the last game against the Mumbai Indians.

Chasing 143, KKR lost Narine early and successive wickets from Nitish Rana (26 of 13) and DK (0 of 3) left them shaky at 53/3 of 6.2 overs. However, the undefeated partnership of Shubman Gill and Eoin Morgan of 92 runs drove KKR’s innings to the goal with 2 overs remaining. Gill scored an undefeated 62-ball 70, while Eoin Morgan’s 29-ball 42 was equally significant in the 7-wicket victory for KKR.
Sunrisers Hyderabad had lost their 2020 IPL opener against Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore, by 10 runs, on September 21.
