After countless speculations about the pregnancy and various clarifications over the two and a half years of Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli’s married life, the couple announced that there will soon be a super cute addition to their family. It will arrive in January 2021. “Virat had applied for paternity leave from the Cricket Control Board in India (BCCI) and was granted permission to return to India after the opening of the India-Australia test tour series .
The Cricket Control Board in India (BCCI) issued a statement that could read as “At the selection committee meeting held on October 26, 2020, Mr. Virat Kohli informed BCCI about his plans to return to India after from the first test in Adelaide. The BCCI has granted paternity leave to the Indian captain. He will return after the first test against Australia in Adelaide. ”While it was a joyous moment for Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma, this decision received a mixed reaction by tweeters. Some questioned Virat’s decision to take paternity leave and compared it to Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s decision to choose not to do so in 2015 while leading India in a World Cup in Australia when his wife, Sakshi Singh Dhoni, had given birth to her first child.Some supported Virat and said that it is her personal decision to opt for paternity leave. In reference to the tweets, speaking of Mahendra Singh Dhoni prioritizing his commitment to the Indian cricket team over being with his wife, Sakshi Singh Dhoni when he gave birth to their daughter, Ziva Singh Dhoni, Captain Cool once revealed whether his daughter had changed him as a person, “I don’t know if he has changed me as a cricketer, as a person, of course because the daughters are very close to their parents.
