Juggling a career and personal life is never easy and there is a constant guilt that everyone, male or female, faces in their quest for work-life balance. Much has been written and said about a woman’s struggle to balance her personal and professional life, but we often forget that men, too, sacrifice a great deal to become breadwinners. While most organizations allow their employees to take maternity leave, paternity leave does not have much of a preference. Thanks to the evolution of the times, men are also opting for paternity leave to be practical with their newborns. After Kunal Kemmu, Kapil Sharma, Shahid Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan and Riteish Deshmukh, future father, Virat Kohli had applied for paternity leave to be with his wife, Anushka Sharma, and the BCCI granted him the same. After countless speculations about the pregnancy and various clarifications over the two and a half years of Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli’s married life, the couple announced that there will soon be a super cute addition to their family. Virat and Anushka had posted a photo showing the expectant mom flaunting her tummy while the expectant parents were all smiles for the camera. Virat and Anushka had captioned the post as “And then, there were three of us! It will arrive in January 2021. “Virat had applied for paternity leave from the Cricket Control Board in India (BCCI) and was granted permission to return to India after the opening of the India-Australia test tour series .
The Cricket Control Board in India (BCCI) issued a statement that could read as “At the selection committee meeting held on October 26, 2020, Mr. Virat Kohli informed BCCI about his plans to return to India after from the first test in Adelaide. The BCCI has granted paternity leave to the Indian captain. He will return after the first test against Australia in Adelaide. ”While it was a joyous moment for Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma, this decision received a mixed reaction by tweeters. Some questioned Virat’s decision to take paternity leave and compared it to Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s decision to choose not to do so in 2015 while leading India in a World Cup in Australia when his wife, Sakshi Singh Dhoni, had given birth to her first child. Some supported Virat and said that it is her personal decision to opt for paternity leave. In reference to the tweets, speaking of Mahendra Singh Dhoni prioritizing his commitment to the Indian cricket team over being with his wife, Sakshi Singh Dhoni when he gave birth to their daughter, Ziva Singh Dhoni, Captain Cool once revealed whether his daughter had changed him as a person, “I don’t know if he has changed me as a cricketer, as a person, of course because the daughters are very close to their parents. In my case the problem is when she was born, I was there, no most of the time I was playing cricket, so everything bad somehow gets thrown at me (to deal with). ” Do you know how MS Dhoni found out about the birth of her daughter, Ziva? It was in 2015 when Dhoni was preparing for the 2015 ICC World Cup and Sakshi had to contact her partner-friend, Suresh Raina, to inform her of Ziva’s arrival in this world.
For the unspoken, December 19, 2006 was a tragic day for Virat Kohli, but it was also marked as the beginning of a journey to a successful cricket career. Virat’s father had passed away after a long battle with cancer the same night he had to play the Ranji Trophy and shortly after the cremation, his presence on the field and the tremendous performance touched millions of hearts. Since then, there has been no turning back for the captain of the Indian cricket team, Virat! With only a few weeks left for Virat to become a father, let’s take a look at the video of him indulging in an adorable conversation with Ziva Singh Dhoni at Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s home in Ranchi. Sharing a video with Ziva in 2017, Virat had written: “My meeting with Ziva. What a blessing it is to be surrounded by pure innocence. ” (Also read: Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s wife Sakshi Singh Dhoni gives a glimpse of her new beachfront home in Mumbai)
