Cornered by the opposition after the ruling MLA party video went viral, Rajasthan Prime Minister Ashok Gehlot will speak with the head of the state party, Govind Singh Dotasra, about the issue on Monday, congressional leaders said. Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has demanded CM’s resignation.
The alleged video of Mahendrajeet Singh Malviya, Bagidora’s Congress MLA and former minister, is circulating on social media. The video allegedly shows Malviya saying, during a campaign for the panchayat polls in Banswara, that each of the two Dungarpur MLA BTPs received Rs 5 crore during the Rajya Sabha polls and Rs 5 crore each during the political crisis when the former MP CM Sachin Pilot rebelled against the Gehlot government.
A senior congressional leader familiar with the development said on condition of anonymity that Gehlot has called Dotasra, who is currently on a visit to Sikar, to discuss. Aside from other organizational issues, the CM will address the ongoing video with Dotasra. He added that the head of state and secretary general of AICC, Ajay Maken, has already spoken with Gehlot on the subject.

Striking Gehlot, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, in a series of tweets, demanded his resignation. Retweeting the video, he stated: “The Gehlot government is playing with values and the democratic mandate, and it is not hidden. Now, it is clear from the acceptance of the party’s high-level MLA, Mahendrajeet Singh Malviya, in front of the public, that CM Ashok Gehlot has no right to continue in his post.
He said: “The vote of confidence obtained by the state government in the Legislative Assembly through the purchase and sale of MLA was actually a hoax with the public, similarly the Congressional candidate’s victory in the Rajya Sabha elections it is also doubtful. ”
In another tweet, he said, Gehlot talked about herding and simultaneously, on the other hand, created a chakravyuh Barter (trap), he misled the public and attacked the BJP to divert attention from his hoax. But now, all the secrets of this conspiracy are coming to light, the public is watching everything.
Congressional spokesperson Archana Sharma said that the person who participated in the destabilization of the state government has no moral authority to seek the resignation of anyone. The plot to overthrow the government failed and now they are making baseless accusations, he said.
