Viral: Shamita Shetty’s tweet about the ‘death of democracy’ after BMC demolished Kangana Ranaut’s office | People News

New Delhi: Actress Shamita Shetty took a spot on the trend list after her tweet about the demolition of Kangana Ranaut’s office by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) went viral. Kangana’s luxurious office in Mumbai ‘s Palli Hill was demolished in part by the BMC earlier this week amid its bitter confrontation with the Maharashtra government over its PoK comment. However, the Bombay High Court soon issued an order suspending the demolition and requested a response from the BMC.

The BMC demolition campaign was condemned by many Bollywood stars and Shamita also voiced her opinion, tweeting: “I will not go into the merit or demerit of what Kangana said. You have freedom of speech, but what happened yesterday seemed unworthy shocking. & vv wrong! Democracy, human / property security compromised with Goondaism? I’m a proud Indian and always felt safe in Mumbai but now … saddened and nervous! #DeathofDemocracy! “

Kangana Ranaut’s comment comparing Mumbai to Pakistani-occupied Kashmir (PoK) drew the ire of the ruler Shiv Sena, who also controls the BMC.

Before the demolition work, the BMC posted a second notice outside his bungalow, informing him of the action the civic body was taking.

The actress arrived in Mumbai the same day and throughout her trip from Manali, she kept tweeting about BMC officials tearing down her property.
