Gondia police arrested actor Vijay Raaz on Tuesday on the basis of a complaint from a member of the Bollywood film Sherni crew, which is being filmed in the jungles of Balaghat, some 40 km away in neighboring Madhya Pradesh. .

“The woman came to us with the complaint on Monday night, saying that she was sexually abused by Vijay Raaz at a hotel where the film crew is staying. Based on his complaint, we filed an FIR and arrested Raaz on Tuesday morning. Later, a local court granted him a probationary bond, ”Gondia Additional Police Superintendent Atul Kulkarni told The Indian Express.

Sherni is based on the story of Pandharkawda’s T1 ‘troublesome tigress’, nicknamed Avni, who was shot and killed on November 2, 2018. Actor Vidya Balan is playing the role of the divisional forestry officer who had managed the operation to trap to Avni. Balan was also in Gondia for the filming of the film.

“We collected evidence of the incident and then proceeded to arrest Raaz,” Kulkarni said, adding: “There are eyewitnesses from the crew who have told us that the allegation is true.”
