Veteran BJP leader and former Mulund legislator Sardar Tara Singh died Saturday morning from a prolonged illness. The 81-year-old leader had been being treated at Bandra Lilawati hospital for the past month and finally succumbed to his illness on Saturday.
BJP lawmaker Mihir Kotecha, who succeeded Tara Singh in the Mulund constituency, said she suffered from multiple illnesses. “He was very ill and on a ventilator for a long time,” Kotecha said.

Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis tweeted that his active participation during the assembly proceedings, his commitment to his constituency and to the common man will be forever remembered.
Mulund’s four-time lawmaker was one of the most popular and accessible lawmakers in Mumbai. He started as a corporate officer in the Mumbai civic body before graduating as a legislator. However, he was denied the BJP ticket in 2019 due to his advanced age and also because his son Rajneet Singh’s name appeared in the Punjab and Maharashtra Cooperative (PMC) bank scam.
