Hours after former congressional president Rahul Gandhi tweeted a video Saturday in which some troops allege they were forced to travel in an unarmored vehicle for operational duties, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) issued a statement saying that he was ascertaining the authenticity of the video.
“CRPF is investigating the authenticity of the video. CRPF has adequate protection vehicles to meet various operational requirements, ”said DIG Moses Dhinakaran, CRPF spokesman in a statement.
Gandhi attacked the government for providing non-bulletproof vehicles for soldiers while spending 8.4 billion rupees to purchase planes for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Is this justice?” he asked on Twitter along with a video of an alleged conversation between soldiers transported in non-bulletproof vehicles.
“Our jaws are being shipped in non-bulletproof trucks to be martyred and Rs 8.4 billion planes are being bought for the PM! Is this justice? ”He said in a tweet in Hindi.
The video shows a conversation between soldiers who oppose being transported in a non-bulletproof vehicle, while their elders used bulletproof vehicles.
The Jawans also complained that by doing so their lives were compromised and the authorities were playing with their lives and those of their families.
The government has recently brought in two VVIP aircraft for the trip of the President, Prime Minister and Vice President, even though it maintained that the process for the acquisition of the two aircraft had begun under the UPA government, and the current dispensation has only been led to a logical conclusion.
