Uttar Pradesh: Chandrashekhar Azad convoy shot, Bhim army alleges – lucknow

The Bhim Army, a Dalit rights organization, has accused some thugs of shooting at the cavalcade of their chief Chandrashekher Azad in Bulandshahar in western Uttar Pradesh (UP) on Sunday.

Azad media coordinator Dr. Kush said that the Bhim Army chief addressed a rally in Bulandshahar on Sunday in support of Azad Samaj Party candidate Hazi Yameen, who is running in the upcoming by-elections of the assembly for the seat of Bulandshahr Sadar scheduled for November 3.

He said Azad was returning from Bulandshahr at night when unidentified thugs shot at his cavalcade and disappeared.

Azad’s supporters gathered at the scene and protested the shooting incident.

However, SK Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Bulandshahar, denied the shooting incident. He said supporters of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) candidate Dilashad and Yameen had a dispute with each other and threw chairs at each other.

He claimed that local residents have also denied the shooting incident.

Bulandshahr Sadar’s seat was vacated following the death of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Virendra Sirohi.

The ruling BJP has presented Sirohi’s wife as his candidate in the bypoll. The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has nominated Hazi Yunus.

Praveen Kumar Singh is the joint candidate of the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) in the multi-corner contest.
