Kamala Harris made history Wednesday by taking the oath of office as the first woman, the first black and the first Asian American vice president of the United States. The former California senator’s first tweet from her US government account as the incumbent of the second-highest office in the country’s administration consisted of just three words, but it delivered the desired message strongly. “Ready to serve,” he wrote.

Aside from her personal Twitter account, which has more than 15 million followers and whose description quickly changed to ‘Vice President of the United States’ after being sworn in, the 58-year-old has also been operating the official account of the United States government. Harris, who began her career as a lawyer in the 1990s, is known for breaking glass ceilings. She was the first Native American to serve as a US Senator and the first woman of color to be elected San Francisco District Attorney. When she was elected California Attorney General in 2010, she was the first woman and the first African American to do so.
