US President Donald Trump will continue his legal fight for re-election, White House spokeswoman Kayleigh McEnany said during a press conference on Tuesday (local time).
“The president is still involved in ongoing election-related litigation. Yesterday’s vote was a step in the constitutional process. I will leave it to him and will refer him to the campaign for more information on that litigation,” McEnany said while responding to a question about whether Trump acknowledges Joe Biden’s victory after the Electoral College vote.
On Monday, Joe Biden obtained 306 votes from the Electoral College and Trump received 232. The electoral votes will be sent to the United States Congress for verification in a joint session, the final stage of the election, which is scheduled for January 6.
Speaking about Pfizer’s coronavirus vaccine that was distributed on Monday, he said 2.9 million doses of the vaccine have been distributed and 4 million more will be administered on Friday.
“Yesterday the United States witnessed a medical miracle. The first doses of a Covid vaccine were administered to frontline workers across the country,” he said.
He further said: “There will be some senior administration officials who will take it publicly to instill that confidence.”
President Donald Trump promised a safe and effective vaccine in record time, and he delivered, the spokesman added.
According to Fox News, Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar and U.S. Surgeon General Jerome Adams joined George Washington University Hospital faculty and administrators on Monday when the first dose of the vaccine.
Azar urged the public not to lower their guard against the COVID-19 disease.
“At 95 percent effective, this vaccine is extraordinary in protecting you from the virus … Getting vaccinated will help you, your family, and your country stay safe,” Azar said.
Fox News further reported that five healthcare workers received the first of the two-dose vaccine during the press conference and the second dose will be administered in about three weeks.
The president of the United States, Donald Trump, congratulated the world on Monday after the administration of the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in the country, which has registered the highest number of cases worldwide.
Trump took to Twitter and announced, “First vaccine administered. Congratulations to America! Congratulations to the WORLD!”
The U.S. FDA approved Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine for emergency use across the country on Friday.
After Trump tweeted: “People who work in the White House should get the vaccine a little later in the show, unless specifically necessary.”
