UP Police arrest Bulandshahr man for tweeting against Narendra Modi


“The defendant had posted a video on Twitter in which he had made objectionable comments against the prime minister,” police said.

A 31-year-old man was arrested in the Bulandshahr district of Uttar Pradesh for allegedly making objectionable comments against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a post on social media, police said on November 15.

Defendant Saleem Khan was detained by a Kotwali Dehat police team after the district’s cyber cell filed a complaint in the case on November 14, an official said.

“The defendant had posted a video on Twitter in which he had made objectionable comments against the Prime Minister. Several people had reported the matter to the local police regarding the objectionable content, after which action was taken, ”SHO Kotwali Dehat Narendra Kumar Sharma told PTI.

He said the defendant, a local resident, is educated but his occupation was unclear.

Mr. Khan has been booked in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Information Technology Act and the Penal Code of India, Sharma added.
