MEERUT: A committed class 10 student suicide after she was allegedly kidnapped and gang-raped while returning from a license plate class, police said Friday.
The girl from a village in the Sardhana Kotwali area consumed poison after returning home on Thursday night, police said, adding that she died in hospital during treatment.
Meerut Rural Police Superintendent Keshav kumar He said that four young men participated in the kidnapping and rape of the girl and that the police, on the basis of a suicide note left by the girl, arrested two of the accused and launched a chase to catch two others.
In her suicide note, the girl had named four men, including Lakhan and Vikas from a neighboring village, plus two others.
Lakahn and Vikas have been arrested while police are searching for two others, the SP said.
After returning home, she narrated her afflictions to her parents and consumed a poisonous substance some time later, prompting her parents to take her to SSD Global Hospital in Modipuram, where she died during treatment.
