New Delhi:
Farmers in Uttar Pradesh have further exercised their muscles along the key highways connecting Delhi with Noida and Ghaziabad, even as the national capital’s western border with Haryana was still mostly blocked by those of Punjab and Haryana.
On Thursday, vehicle movement remained at a snail’s pace on a Delhi-Noida arterial highway for the third day in a row. Only one of the two carriageways on Noida Link Road, also known as the Chilla Highway, was open, allowing travelers to enter Uttar Pradesh through Noida, authorities said. The other side of the road was blocked by farmers.
Traffic alert
The Chilla Border one causeway from Delhi to Noida has been opened to traffic, however another Causeway from Noida to Delhi is still closed.

The Noida Traffic Police had issued a warning about route diversions, suggesting that people use the DND or Kalindi Kunj routes instead of the Noida Link highway to reach Delhi.
Some protest leaders have alleged arrest by the police on Wednesday, a charge denied by the Noida DCP.
Similar scenes could be witnessed on the Ghaziabad-Delhi border, with UP farmers blocking roads, allowing only ambulances to pass. The Ghaziabad additional district magistrate, for his part, expressed concern about the disruption of ambulance services.
Thousands of farmers have blocked West Delhi’s border points like Tikri with Haryana for days together, making crossing the border a big chore for regular travelers. Other closed border points on Delhi’s western border include Singhu, Jharoda, and Jhatikra.
Traffic alert
The borders of Tikri, Jharoda are closed for any traffic movement.
