A total of 249 positive cases were registered in Uttar Pradesh Wednesday, taking the account 5175-positive patients. The state also has reported 127 deaths so far due to novel coronavirus.

The Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh, has emerged as the new hotspot in Uttar Pradesh, with a whopping 95 positive cases reported in a single day. Of these, 49 people have come from outside the district.
A total of 249 positive cases were registered in Uttar Pradesh Wednesday, taking the account 5175-positive patients, the state has also reported 127 deaths so far due to coronavirus in the state. Also 3,066 people who have recovered so far, while there are 1982 active cases in the state.
Meanwhile, the Barabanki district administration issued a statement on Wednesday night, and confirmed 95 positive cases in the district, taking the score to 122.
As by Barabanki district administration, 245 samples were taken from suspected positive cases on May 15 and 16, which 95 people tested positive, and 142 persons tested negative, while samples of 8 people were being sent back for technical reasons.
The District judge of Barabanki wrote on Twitter, “Today 95 persons were found positive including the example of a deceased person, of whom 46 were contacts of 6 people, who were before of positive outcome, all of them were already placed under institutional quarantine. While 49 have come from outside the district and was shifted to the Rear of the Hospital and action was taken according to the protocols. However, there is no need to panic, the numbers are not important, but what is important is that we have identified the cases timely that prevents the spread of contamination. There are now a total of 122 active cases in the state.”
Previously, the 50 migrant workers were tested positive for COVID-19 in Basti district. Speaking to the media on the subject, DM Basti Ashutosh Niranjan said, “Out of these 50 new cases of 14 people who belong to Basti and 36 are from other districts of UP. These 36 people found Crown positive, travelled to Basti via Shramik train special (which ends at Basti) on the 12th of May. On the way to Basti in one of the coaches, a person who belongs to Ayodhya, was found dead. Railway authorities informed that the dead body was handed over to the GRP at Lucknow, and from them to KGMU authorities necessary for the sampling, and other actions.”
“On receiving information of the network rail authorities the same day (before shramik express train finished in Basti), in the termination of train in Basti around 7 PM, we quarantine 100% of people in the respective coach in our quarantine facility at the medical university of Basti. Unfortunately, a few days after that I said DM Ayodhya interested persons of the sample has come up positive. On receipt of this information we conducted a sampling of all the 72 people. These 36 cases, of which 72 list (result 100% of samples out of these 72 is yet to come),” he added.
“Due to judicious and prudent decision to put to all 72 people on the coach in our quarantine centre in Basti, we can prevent these people from the transmission of the Crown of the disease in their respective districts,” added DM Basti.
Health Department officials are said to be concerned about an impending increase in cases with the entry of lakhs of migrants from other states.
Chief Medical officer (Lucknow), Dr. Narendra Agarwal, said that the cases may go up soon as it is very difficult to find out the history of contacts of all migrant workers returning home, the majority of the people, after the months-long national security blockade imposed to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
Until now, the maximum number of migrants testing positive for COVID-19 are from Basti region. In addition, Pratapgarh has seen 15 such cases, 10-Band 10, Sitapur saw 5 cases, Amethi, Farrukhabad, Kanpur, Dehat and Unnao reported 4 cases, Prayagraj, Ballia, Gonda and Kushinagar recorded 3 and both Chitrakoot and Raebareli reported 2.
Earlier, speaking on the issue of returning migrants to become the new super spreaders, Principal Secretary (Health), Amit Mohan Prasad had said vigilance committees in rural and urban areas were working throughout the day to keep a strict vigil on the people coming from outside the state.
