‘Unprovoked aggression, a reminder of how the world is changing’: Rajnath Singh on the Ladakh standoff

Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said on Monday that he spoke about the clash at the Royal Line of Control (LAC) in Ladakh and said such “unprovoked aggression” is a reminder of how the world is changing. He also praised the bravery shown by the Indian defense forces.

“The unprovoked aggression on our Himalayan borders is a reminder of how the world is changing, how existing agreements are being challenged, how power is being asserted not only in the Himalayas but throughout the Indo-Pacific,” Singh said as he was on his way to the farewell session of the annual FICCI conclave. .

“There is a large accumulation of armed forces in LAC in Ladakh. In these trying times, our forces have shown exemplary courage and remarkable strength. They fought the PLA with the greatest courage and forced them to return, ”he added.

The defense minister said that future generations will be proud of what our forces have accomplished this year. “Our armed forces fought with them (the Chinese military) with the utmost courage and forced them back,” Singh said.

He also lashed out at Pakistan, calling it the source of terrorism. “We have been victims of cross-border terrorism, but we have fought alone against the scourge, even when there was no one to support us, but then they understood that we were right that Pakistan was the source of terrorism,” Singh said.

On Sunday, while participating in an interactive session at the annual general meeting of the industry body FICCI, Chancellor S Jaishankar called the “events” across LAC in eastern Ladakh as “very disturbing”. He also said that what happened there was not in China’s interest as it faces the prospect of losing goodwill in India that has been carefully developed in recent decades.

The armies of India and China have been locked in a tense border clash in eastern Ladakh since the beginning of May. Both sides have held multiple rounds of military and diplomatic talks. However, no progress has yet been made.
