Shimla: In a great relief to the tourism industry, the Himachal Pradesh government has lifted travel-related restrictions imposed due to the coronavirus pandemic, as people entering the state will no longer require a pass or online registration.

However, the movement of interstate buses will remain suspended until further orders, the state government said Tuesday.

According to the PTI, the decision was made at a state cabinet meeting chaired by Himachal Pradesh’s Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur. This is the first time after a national Covid-19 shutdown went into effect on March 24 in which people will not need any registration to enter the hill state.

Previously, the state government had allowed the entry of tourists who bring negative Covid-19 reports / certificates with them until September 15. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister, Jai Ram Thakur, reported that the negative Covid-19 certificate is not necessary to enter Himachal Pradesh.

The issue of opening schools and universities in the state was not discussed at the cabinet meeting.

Covid situation in Himachal Pradesh

Up to 419 new infections and eight deaths have been reported in the state in the last 24 hours. With new cases, the total number of infected patients in Himachal Pradesh has risen to 10,336, while the death toll has reached 89.

Seven men and one woman succumbed to the virus, said Special Health Secretary Nipun Jindal. Three deaths were reported for Mandi, two for Una and one for Kangra, Shimla and Solan, Jindal said.

A total of 250 more infected patients recovered yesterday. Of these, 59 were from Hamirpur, 44 from Mandi, 26 from Chamba and Bilaspur, 24 from Una, 19 from Kangra and Kullu, 17 from Sirmaur, 14 from Solan and two from Kinnaur.

The total number of recoveries in the state rose to 6,417, the official said, adding that 27 patients have migrated.
The number of active cases in the state as of now stands at 3,801, Jindal said.
