Unlock 4.0 Guidelines: Subway services, suspended since March 22 as a result of the coronavirus outbreak, will be able to operate from September 7, according to the guidelines issued by the Center on Saturday in the fourth phase of ‘Unblocking’. The guidelines, issued by the Ministry of the Interior, will be in effect until September 30.
Metro services will be operated in a phased manner., in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedure (POE) that will be issued by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MOHUA).
In addition to the resumption of Metro services, as of September 21, public meetings will be allowed that include social, academic, sports, entertainment, cultural and religious events with a maximum limit of 100 people. Mandatory use of face masks, social distancing, provision for thermal scanning, and hand washing or disinfectants will be required to hold such gatherings.
In addition, the open-air theaters may also open from September 21.
Schools and universities will be closed until September 30, according to guidelines. However, states and union territories may allow up to 50% of teaching and non-teaching staff to be called into the school for jobs related to online teaching. This will only be allowed for areas outside of the containment zones as of September 21.
With India reporting 76,472 cases in the past 24 hours, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country surpassed the 34 lakh mark to reach 34,63,973 cases on Saturday. This is the third consecutive day in which more than 70,000 cases have been registered in the country. With up to 1,021 deaths in the same period, the country’s death toll has reached 62,500.
