NEW DELHI: Amidst the stagnation that prevails between farmers and the central government about him new agricultural laws, Union ministers Narendra Singh Tomar and Som parkash met with the Minister of the Interior of the Union Amit shah at the residence of the latter on Sunday.
Meanwhile, farmer unrest in and around Delhi entered its 18th day on Sunday, and farmers threatened to block the Delhi-Jaipur highway.
On December 11, the government sent a proposal to protesting farmers with some possible amendments to the laws.
However, the farmers rejected the government’s proposal and demanded the repeal of the laws. They said they will intensify the unrest if the laws are not repealed.
Meanwhile, the Union’s agriculture minister, Narendra Singh Tomar, called on the protesters to stop agitating as talks are still continuing.
Farmers have been protesting in and around the national capital since November 26 against the Trade in Agricultural Products and Trade (Promotion and Facilitation) Act of 2020; the Agreement for Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) on Price Assurance and Agricultural Services Law, 2020; and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act 2020.
