India recognizes the centrality of gender equality and the empowerment of women in all aspects of our development agenda, said Minister of the Union for the Development of Women and Children, Smriti Irani, at the United Nations.
Speaking on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women, she said: “Women constitute numerically half of humanity, but their influence transfuses all dimensions of society, politics and economy. The Union minister said that India is now focused on inclusive growth and deep reforms which together are bringing about transformative change.
“By announcing these changes under the leadership of our visionary Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we have moved from a paradigm of women’s development to development led by women,” she added.
