An unemployed 35-year-old man who allegedly killed his father, an employee of Central Coal Fields Limited (CCL), in Barkakana in the district to get a job at the PSU on compassionate ground, police said Sunday. Krishna Ram (55), chief security guard stationed at CCL’s Central Workshop in Barkakana in Ramgarh district, was found dead with his throat slit early on Thursday, police said.
Prakash Chandra Mahto, a subdivision police officer (SDPO), told a news conference Saturday that Ram’s 35-year-old eldest son had killed him in his neighborhood in Barkakana on Wednesday night by slitting his throat. Police recovered a small hummer knife used in the crime and the deceased’s mobile phone, he said.
Police claimed that Ram’s eldest son confessed during questioning that he killed his father to get a job at CCL out of compassion. Under the provisions of the CCL, a legal dependent of an employee would be given a job if the employees die during their tenure, police said.
