Melbourne [Australia], Dec 31 (ANI): Indian pacemaker Umesh Yadav, who limped off with tearing pain in his calf muscle on the third day of Boxing Day testing against Australia on Monday, departed for India Wednesday night.
Speaking to ANI, sources familiar with developments in the Indian countryside said the pacemaker will now seek to recover in time for the England series.
“His scanners arrived and he will miss Game 3 and Game 4. So there was no point stopping him and he had better go back to the country and undergo rehab at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). He left Wednesday night.” the source said.
When asked how that ranks the bowling unit, the source said that T Natarajan, who had a brilliant run in the limited overs series, could be added to the main Test team. “With limited options available, team management may request that Natarajan be added to the team,” the source said.
The fast bowler underwent scans after complaining of sore calf muscle while bowling on the third day at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
Umesh limped completing his follow-up during his fourth follow-up, leading him back to the locker room. India no longer has the services of the pacemaker Mohammad Shami when the pacemaker flew home after fracturing his hand.
While the team lost Umesh to the bowling lineup in Australia’s second inning, the Indians put on a brilliant show to win the game by eight wickets at MCG. Despite leading from the front, Ajinkya Rahane refused to take credit for his Man of the Match program. Having managed the winning run to seal victory on Tuesday, the batter immediately pointed to the brilliant spectacle the team put on.
“Really proud of all the players. He played very well. I want to give credit to rookies (Mohammed) Siraj and (Shubman) Gill, the character they showed after the defeat of Adelaide was great to see,” he said in the post-match. . presentation.
Insisting on the need to show character after getting hit in the pink ball event at the Adelaide Oval, Rahane said: “Character was important to us, especially after losing Umesh in the second inning. That (five-plan bowling) worked well for very good. We were thinking of having an SUV and Jadeja has been great for us. “
While Gill didn’t set the stands on fire, he definitely resisted the fire thrown at him by the duo of Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins. And Rahane was quick to point out how the young man stood tall. He also praised Siraj for standing up and being counted, especially when India lost to Umesh in the second inning.
“Shubman, we all know his first-class career and in this game, he has shown an intention to play shots at this level. He has shown composure. Siraj has shown he can shoot with discipline. It’s really difficult for rookies to shoot with discipline, but that’s where I think first-class experience comes in handy, “he said. (AND ME)
