UGC Releases Revised Guidelines for Universities Amid COVID-19

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has released a revised set of guidelines for the new 2020-21 academic session for freshmen of undergraduate and graduate courses. UGC has published these revised guidelines following the recommendation of the expert committee. According to the published revised academic guidelines, the new academic year will now start from November 1, 2020 for undergraduate and graduate students.

Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ took to Twitter and announced the release of the revised guidelines.

In this sense, the UGC has informed all universities that the admission process for first-year students of the UG and PG courses must be completed before October 31, 2020. According to the revised academic calendar published by UGC, the first year exams will take place between March 8, 2021 and March 26, 2021.

Per UGC’s notification, “Merit-based admissions to freshman programs for the 2020-21 session will be completed by the end of October 2020. The last admission date to fill the remaining vacant seats will be October 30 November. “

All universities have been instructed by the UGC to follow a 6-day weekly pattern to make up for missed classes.

Universities have also been asked to reduce breaks or vacations to facilitate the new batch of students. In this way your final results would be declared on time and the titles would be delivered on time.

Additionally, UGC assists students and parents facing financial difficulties with a full refund of the fee in the event of cancellation of admissions or student migration.

“To prevent parents from facing financial difficulties due to lockdown and related factors, a full refund of fees will be made on account of all student admissions / migration cancellations, until November 30 for this same session as a special case “.
